I am STEVE IVESTER and in 2008 I ran for US Congress for the North Carolina Tenth District.  I would like to thank my supporters and the 27,000 Democrats who cast their vote for me instead of my “high profile” opposition.  I did not win in the Primary but received 40% of the vote and we raised and developed issues that needed to be addressed.  I would particularly like to extend my appreciation to the people of Cleveland County who gave me more than 57% of their votes.

After the Primary, I worked as a grass roots volunteer in the Obama campaign.  I continue, as before, to participate in the civic and cultural life of the region.  I do this particularly in the three counties of the District where I have solid roots and attachments.  I continue to work on job creation, healthcare and energy, which were lead issues of my campaign.  I am also involved in civic issues related to education and the environment.

The USA will only get out of our current crisis if we all work together in a bipartisan way, across any class lines and are willing to dream of and look at novel solutions.

I am considering what my political activity and involvement will be as we approach the 2010 elections.  If you have thoughts or opinions on this, please contact me by E-Mail at info@steveivester.com, by phone at  828-358-4579 (leave message), or at P.O.Box 1689, Hickory, NC 28603-1689.

I am interested in and will appreciate and weigh all comments:  positive, negative, Democrat, Republican or un-affiliated.
